PS A slight update on The Portobello Film Festival - as well as it being shown as part of the normal schedule (no big deal really) - they selected my film to be shown as part of the 'Special Preview Night' to launch the event. Quite cool but the only problem was that I was away in Morocco for the entire duration of the festival. Doh!

And now just to prove how subjective the whole thing can be, I've been accepted into the International Cork Film Festival.

So thats 2 out of 2 Irish (Cork, Kerry) and 0 out of 2 abroad (London, Manhatten).

I would put the film on the web Emjen, but I cant find anywhere to host it for free. Maybe it'll belatedly make it onto the fourth exposure DVD?

I got asked by a guy to shoot a feature for him...He thinks of himself as a "Writer/Director". Red-Flag should have gone up right there.

Needless to say I got his script. I read it and it was pretty good. It wasn't going to win any big awards or make anyone famous. But I could see it showing in the top 20 markets in the USA--If done right. Meaning with care and with proper funding.

Well, this cat kept all of his rejection letters. Every one of them--He had a stack about 2 inches thick. They were the standard form letter type...The kind we are talking about. They were from Sundance, Slamdance, New York Underground, etc. This should have been Red-Flag #2.

So then he shows me some of his past work. Oh man. It was shit to say the least. It was poorly lit, bad acting, bad camera and all shot on MiniDV. No wonder he got these rejection letters.

Then again this is the same guy who insisted on shooting no matter what. No matter how little money he had. He would cut every corner just so that he could have his movie done in time for the Fall festival deadlines...What the fuck is that all about!!!???

To sum it up. This isn't directed to anyone. If you are a Hack then you will get rejected. If you think that you made a masterpiece and everyone will love it--You are wrong. Just because your friends and family thought it was great doesn't mean shit.

The only thing you can do is set the bar very high and not settle for anything less than the best.

    Good Luck

If you can manage to get the film around 20 mb... might have some space for ya.

But then again... 20 mb might give you utter shit quality, but who knows, eh?
